Flies around windows

Has this happened to anyone else?

So...we never ever get flies in our house. We just don't.

I had in my possession in my house the book the Amityville Horror...I don't know if you've seen the movie or read the book, but there's a part in the story where in one room of the house, there is a huge infestation of flies around a window....
well, get this.
during the period of me reading this book and it being in my household, we had about 10 flies or more constantly at our kitchen windows, just the kitchen windows!
We'd vacuum them up and literally seconds later they'd come back.
We never did find out where the hell they were coming from, no windows were open or anything.

My mother said get RID of that book immediately, so I did, and the flies stopped coming.

the womans name in the story is Cathy and my moms name is Kathy.
